Born in Belgrade and raised in Vancouver, Aleksandra has been playing with yoga since she was a teenager. She began to practice more seriously seven years ago, and completed her 200 hour Registered Yoga Teacher Training in Costa Rica in early 2017 under Liz Heffernan and Peggy Profant. Since then, she has completed certification in Trauma-Informed Yoga and the 85 hour Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training with Teresa Campbell. She moved back to Serbia to open Avani Yoga in 2018.
For Aleksandra, yoga has always been a powerful means of stilling a raucous mind. As a tool for bringing us into the present, yoga is potent medicine for modernity. A firm believer in the power of yoga to recalibrate habitual patterns in both the body and the brain, Aleksandra strives to create classes that deliver accessible experiences of embodiment with a healthy dose of fun.
Aleksandra’s classes tend to be strong and flowing, and she encourages students to observe the movement of energy through the body. She always ends with a juicy period of restorative relaxation.
